Fiber Cement Siding May Be Hard, But It’s Not Spelled “Hardy” Plank

Try it – Google ‘Hardy Plank’ – you’ll find it pops up right away as a suggested search term. That tells us that many people refer to it that way.  But the search engines will also correct it to ‘Hardie’ – the correct spelling of this brand name for fiber cement siding manufactured by The James Hardie Company.

Even though it is not spelled “Hardy” it still lives up to the name that makes it hard and protective when placed on the outside of a home. This is why so many homeowners are choosing to make the change to this siding over some of the others.

So why is the word “Hardy” so accurate when describing HardiePlank®?

HardiePlank® Siding Is:

Durable and Long Lasting

This is the longest lasting siding material on the market. It can stand for decades without having anything penetrate or ruin it. And when you opt for the prefinished siding with the ColorPlus™ finish, the sun’s UV rays are not going to cause fading to happen on the outside, so for years it will look just as beautiful as the day you had it installed.

Weather Resistant

Not only can it resist all weather elements like rain, snow, sleet, hail, and ice but also it does not rot. This provides a long lasting, extremely weather-resistant siding choice, especially for homes in in those wetter areas.

Non-Combustible

Vinyl siding will melt if there is a fire; genuine wood siding will burst into flames. HardiePlank is actually non-combustible and will not catch fire when there is one. It might even be able to stop the fire from spreading to the buildings next to your home.

Available in Many Color Choices

With Hardie’s ColorPlus™ finish, you can choose the colors that match the times, or your preferences since HardiePlank comes in a number of different colors and choices. You can go with something that stands out or just something that blends well with the rest of the neighborhood. It will then continue to stand strong and vibrant in the neighborhood for some time.

Stronger Than Most Other Siding

Since it is made from a thicker material, Hardie fiber cement siding is stronger than a lot of the other choices of siding on the market. This makes it an ideal material to go with when you are looking for siding that going to offer superior protection for your home. HardiePlank® is a good option if this is one of your top priorities.

And by the way, James Hardie fiber cement siding is available in other style profiles besides plank. You can opt for scallop, shake, and even board and batten or vertical siding.  And coordinating trim and accessories are available.
