Okay, since freezing temps have hit Minnesota, and all over the Twin Cities folks are buttoning up their homes against another winter, you might wonder why we’re talking about patio doors right now – the last door you’re probably opening at this time of year.

This is a great time for having a new patio door installed.

  • We work all year round, but things are just a little slower right now, so you’ll probably be able to get that door installed quickly
  • We currently have a $500 discount we’re offering until February 1st if you schedule a patio door install
  • A new energy-efficient patio door could help you save on your heating costs this winter

Installing a new patio door can put a little bit of life back into your indoor space and bring more of nature from the outside in.  Are you finding that you are hosting more and more gatherings in your backyard, and you would like the exterior of your home to reflect your own very unique style?  We endorse uplifting your patio with one very easy update – install a new patio door.

Replacing your old patio door with a new one is a very simple process and does not have to cost you a lot or take much of your time.  Here are few steps for you to consider in order to get you on the right track.

How to Choose the Right Patio Door

Number 1 – Determine what Your Budget Is: Homeowners will spend on the average of $1500.00 to $2500.00 in order to install a new patio door in their home.  But keep in mind that each patio door installation project will have a different cost due to the many factors that can be involved.  The price of the patio door will be affected by such things as the scope and size of the job, if the patio door is being installed on the inside or the outside of your home, options you choose, type of door material, and what kind of door that you choose.

Number 2 – Choose the Style that Fits your Taste, Style, and your Budget: You have two main options for patio doors – don’t just think slider, although that is the most common. (Other types of patio doors including folding doors and pocket doors, but we’re just going to discuss the two people use most often.)

  • Sliding Patio Doors – A sliding patio door will fit perfectly in any room that does not have a lot of space.  Since they slide to open they do not use any extra room when they are opened.  Security is a very important factor when you are considering doors.  Although these doors look like they are very delicate, they are manufactured to be very strong.
  • French or Hinged Patio Doors – The main difference between a sliding patio door and a French patio door is simply the way they open.  French style patio doors can be hinged on either side and they are also able to open inward or outward. You can also choose to have one of the doors as fixed (inoperable).

Number 3 – Choose the Style that is Right for You:  So, you have made the decision between a sliding or French-style patio doors, now it is time to blend that door with the existing style of your home.  There are many ways that you are able to customize patio doors from colors, hardware, and even glass options.
