Reasons to Leave That Minnesota Siding Project to Professional Installers

Installing siding is a pretty demanding task, and it’s something that most homeowners here in the Minneapolis area simply don’t want to deal with.

We agree with them. There are some homeowners out there that believe that they can save money by doing the work themselves, though. While it’s true that you can technically save money by tackling the job yourself, there are a lot of things that can go wrong with a siding installation.

And then there is the issue that most people don’t consider:  What is YOUR time worth to you?  And don’t you have better things to do?

Below are the most important reasons to consider hiring a siding installation contractor to do the work instead. Sure, it will cost a bit more money, but it’s hard to ignore all the real benefits of doing so.

  • Enjoy the Siding Sooner:  Unless you’re out of work, chances are you’ll have to do the project in your free time, which is limited.  A project that might take a contractor a week might drag into a month or more for a DIY’er.
  • Save Money on Tools:  Properly installing siding on your home requires a good set of tools. Most homeowners don’t have all the tools necessary to do the job and would have to resort to purchasing some additional tools. This adds expense to the job and requires additional time to go shopping. Plus, there is time required to learn how to operate the tools after purchasing them.
  • By paying the money to have a licensed Minnesota home improvement contractor install your siding, you’ll be able to enjoy its benefits sooner because the installation will be finished in less time. That’s a huge benefit to homeowners that don’t’ want to wait around weeks or months to have their siding put on. It’s also beneficial to the home itself because a house without siding for an extended period will weather and take water damage.
  • It’s Much Easier: Most professional siding companies, like Window Outfitters, offer full-service siding installation. That means removing the old siding, preparing the surface of the home for the new siding, installing it, and then cleaning up the area after it’s all done. This is time-consuming, it’s difficult and it isn’t much fun at all. By hiring a company to take care of all these tasks, you save yourself a great deal of time and can enjoy doing something else with your free time.
  • Insurance Protection: There’s always a chance that something will go wrong during a siding install. If that happens it’s nice to know that your property is covered by insurance and workman’s compensation. Damage to your property caused by a siding contractor will be covered by the company. The damage that you cause to your own property is something that you have to cover yourself.  And then there’s the possibility you could injure yourself and have medical bills to pay.
  • Long Term Warranties: Most siding isn’t covered under warranty when it isn’t properly installed or when it isn’t installed by professionals who adhere to the specs set out by the siding manufacturer. By paying for a professional installation, you’ll ensure that the siding is covered under warranty.  Reputable siding contractors like us also offer a workmanship warranty on the siding. That means if it isn’t installed properly, will be made free of charge and the problem will be corrected without costing you money.

And then there’s the cost of the siding itself.  Chances are, the materials will cost a contractor less than a homeowner. Siding contractors often have wholesale-type agreements with suppliers because they buy large amounts of their products. Homeowners will pay full cost because they don’t have that advantage.

It’s possible to save money by installing siding on your hone yourself, but it’s just not worth it to do it. Spend a bit more money and pay professionals to do it instead. The work will be done faster, the install will be of a higher quality and you’ll be protected throughout the process and after thanks to insurance and warranties.
