What You Need To Do To Get Your Home Ready for Replacement Window Installation

When you think about replacing your old windows with new ones, the one thought that may cross your mind is that this is going to be a big deal and a major disruption in your life.

With the right planning and preparation, it doesn’t have to be.

While you may believe that home improvement projects are extremely problematic for homeowners due to the noise and mess, as well as the overall interruption to your daily routine,  replacing your home’s windows can in fact be a faster and easier project than you may imagine.

Our installers do their very best to get in and out of your home rapidly, cleanly, and thoughtfully. Most of the projects that we take on are completed in under a week. On many occasions they are completed in just one day. We promise our clients The Four C’s of Exceptional Home Improvement:

  • Communication
  • Caring
  • Cleanliness
  • Craftsmanship

To help ensure that this process runs smoothly,  you can prepare for your project with a few simple steps.

Tips to Ensure Your Window Replacement Project Runs Efficiently

  • Remove window treatments, such as curtains, brackets, blinds, and drapes
  • Moveany furniture that may be blocking windows, leaving a 3 foot work area for the installers
  • Remove any wall decorations such as mirrors, pictures, clocks, etc. from the walls closest to the windows
  • If you have a home alarm system, contact your alarm company; the alarm contacts will have to be re-installed on the new windows
  • Wait a minimum of 12 hours before reinstalling your shades or blinds; this will ensure that any caulk used dries properly
  • Keep pets confined while our installers are replacing your windows
  • Keep the newly installed windows closed for a minimum of 5 days to ensure that the weather stripping conforms properly

These steps won’t require a major effort, but the impact they can have is huge.  With the right preparation, you can make an important contribution to your window replacement project.
