For Siding Color That Lasts, Choose James Hardie Fiber Cement with ColorPlus® Finish

When homeowners are shopping for new siding, of course one of the main considerations they should have is the expected life of the siding.  And we don’t just mean how long it is going to last as far as protecting the home.  What should also last is the appearance, especially the color.

All siding products look good when they are first installed.  So don’t be fooled by how the color looks when you’re checking out brochures and samples.  It’s new; it hasn’t been exposed to weather and sunlight. So the color looks rich and intense, even if it’s a neutral.

But what happens after that siding has been on a home for a few years?

Here in the Minneapolis area, siding gets exposed to lots of things that can cause issues with its appearance.  Hail can dent or chip it, heavy winds and rain can damage it.  And day after day as the sun beats down on your home, the color can fade. Eventually that gorgeous color you chose will be a thing of the past.

So what do you do? Replace that siding again once the color has faded?

We have a better solution.  If you’re a regular reader of our blog or you follow us on Facebook, you probably have figured out we are big fans of fiber cement siding from The James Hardie Company®. We believe Hardie siding is the best on the market, especially for homes in our area.  But Hardie has taken things one step further with their finish option.  You can order Hardie siding preprimed and have it finished on site by a painting contractor, or you can order your siding with Hardie’s proprietary ColorPlus Technology® finish.

We definitely recommend the baked-on, multi-coat color that ColorPlus Technology® provides.  It costs a bit more, but it is worth it.  Not only is your siding finished the day it is installed, that color will last far longer than a typical paint job – often twice as long.  And it’s warrantied against fading.

If you’re ready to talk about fade-resistant siding for your home, contact us for a free no-obligation consultation.  We are a licensed Minnesota siding contractor, and we are also a Hardie preferred siding installation contractor for the Minneapolis area.
