Now that it’s winter here in the Twin Cities, homeowners all around the metro are experiencing the dreaded window condensation!
Do your windows look like this on the inside of your house? DO NOT BE ALARMED. You probably don’t need new windows, and there is likely not a problem with them. More often than not, there isn’t a problem at all. There is just too much humidity in the home and there is nowhere for it to go. Today’s modern homes are constructed with almost air-tight precision. That means no dry outside air moving through and no inside moist air moving out. Air can only hold so much moisture, and when it reaches a saturation point, it forms condensation, much like it rains or snows outside.
Each winter we get calls from homeowners who think they have problems with their windows. Or customers who recently had us install new windows think there’s an issue with the installation. So we thought we’d bring back one of our most popular winter articles: “MN Winter Window How-To Tips: Condensation on Windows 101.” Read this 2014 post for all you need to know about why you have condensation on your windows and what to do about it.
Now, if you’ve tried the tips we mention in the article and you still have an issue, contact us to arrange a free in-home assessment. We can evaluate the state of your windows and let you know if a replacement is warranted. We install quality replacement windows throughout the Minneapolis and St. Paul metro area.
