Exterior Home Color Trends of 2019

The exterior colors of a home matter more than you think.  One of the best ways to make a dramatic change to how the outside of your home looks is to replace your siding with a different color than you currently have. We find that often homeowners we’re talking with about possible siding choices wonder about what colors are currently popular.

If being on trend is important to you, we’ve got some tips to help you choose a siding color that works with your tastes and your home.

The home’s color is one of the driving factors to why people might want to purchase your home. And while a color might not actually add more value to your home, the fact that it’s more attractive to buyers might mean you could actually get a higher price when you sell.

And even if you’re not planning on putting your home on the market, you can still enjoy having one of the best looking houses in the neighborhood if you choose the right color siding.

Popular Siding Colors Right Now

Bright White:  Whites are perfect to go with when you want to have a building that stands out and looks great. When this is the case, you should always make sure to think about whether this will make your home stand out or fit in with the other homes in the neighborhood.

If you want something that makes a statement, white siding might not be it. But adding a colorful pop with trim, a front door in a vibrant hue, or contrasting trim might help.  James Hardie® has an Arctic White siding that is one of their top sellers. You could put white lap siding on the main section of your home and then choose a deep blue for gable areas, for example.

Another use of white might be as an accent, like the trim shown on the home below.

Earthy Greens:  Earth tones continue to remain popular for both interior and exterior decorating.  (Shown at right is one of our siding projects in green.  Notice how the white trim really makes a dramatic overall effect?)

Natural green tones are great to go with, and using ones that are deep and beautiful can really make the home stand out and look its best.  If you live in a wooded area or have lots of natural landscaping, green siding might be the perfect choice for you. Earth tones are very easy on the eye, so if the appearance you’re going for is soothing, go with a natural green.

Shore Blue: Coastal or beach palettes are very popular. The color of the ocean is something many people who live inland want to bring to their homes. If you like blue, then choosing a deep, ocean-type shade is the way to go. You can add white to the blue to make a color combo that really stands out.

If you’re ready for a facelift on the outside of your home, then it is time to think about the colors you’re going to choose when you replace the siding. Popular color choices are generally wise – there’s a good reason they’re popular. Speak with us here when you’re ready to put something new on the outside of your home.
