Matching the Siding or Contrasting Color for the Trim on Your Home?

06jun24e5a14Choosing the right siding on your home can be pretty difficult to do, because it seems there are so many choices out there. And then once you choose the siding, there is the issue of trim – choosing a color that fades into the siding, or one that’s contrasting? This is going to make your home stand out so much more than you originally thought. When you choose two contrasting colors that go so well together, you are ultimately creating a beautiful display for the neighborhood and anyone that decides to drive by.  Siding and trim color combinations contribute much to a home’s curb appeal.

You also have an option to go with trim that fades into the siding to create a flawless appearance. If there is currently a lot going on color-wise for the home such as the roof and extras such as contrasting shutters or window boxes, or blooming landscape plants, then it might be ideal to choose trim that fits in flawlessly with the siding so that you do not overdo color.  As with everything in life, too much is never a good thing.

Choosing the right shade for your trim is important no matter which option you go with. If you’re not replacing the siding at the same time, you will have to match the siding that you currently have if you are going to go with fading the color in. You will also have to choose a color for contrasting trim that goes well with the siding color.  Keep in mind that even though you really want to up the visual appeal of your home, you don’t want to overdo it.  If every home on your block has trim matched to the siding, adding a high contrast color trim to your home might be a bit much.

If it’s time to replace your trim (and/or your siding), speak with us at Window Outfitters, where we can help you choose your colors. We are proud to offer siding installation in the Minneapolis MN area. Some of the siding choices that we currently have are Craneboard insulated vinyl and James Hardie fiber cement siding.
