Thinking About a Mixed Media Exterior For Your Minneapolis Home?

Mixing two types of siding or other exterior finishing such as brick or stone on the outside of a home is becoming very popular.  In fact, we’ve done a number of remodels recently that include multiple types of material.  Not only does this add some character to the outside of the home, but it can show your unique personality all the same.

One great way to do that is with the addition of stone accents.

Stone not only looks beautiful mixed in with the other media of the home’s exterior, but it can also increase the appeal and value of your home. When done properly, it also can help with the heating and cooling costs, while also allowing you to show your own flair for design.  One line that’s very popular with our customers is Boral cultured stone.

Boral Cultured Stone

Boral cultured stone is not only one of the toughest materials on the market but also one of the most beautiful to go with.  With the wide variety of colors and types they offer, you’re able to choose something that stands out, that provides additional value to your home, and also offers other benefits.

DSC_0047Mixed media can look great a a home, and we’ve done multiple projects that showcase how beautiful stone can go with other media on the exterior of a home.  Shown here is just one example.

Choose from many different options, colors and sizes so that it fits the look and feel of your home and does not stand out too much, but just enough to give it that elegant, different look you’re going for.

Not Everything Can Work on an Exterior

There are also other materials you shouldn’t think of using when it comes to mixed media on exteriors. This can be decided upon when it comes to choosing which materials go well with one another, and allow you to create the most beautiful appeal.  For example, if you’ve got an historic home, chances are that sleek steel panels would look out of place.  On the other hand, cultured stone panels around the base with fiber cement siding that replicates real wood might be just the right mix.

When we make recommendations, we keep style of your home, cost, time and other factors in mind. Your Minneapolis home can be a treasure in the neighborhood if you choose wisely, and we can help with that decision.
