Storm Damage News: Severe Weather with Heavy Rains & Hail Hit South Twin Cities Metro, SE Minnesota, and Western Wisconsin

Large parts of the southern Twin Cities – including the western Wisconsin communities of River Falls and Hudson – got hit with severe weather yesterday, June 4th, 2019. While the heaviest winds and rainfall were reported in southeastern Minnesota in areas around Rosemount, Farmington, and New Prague, it also affected parts of Dakota and Scott counties.

  • Ping pong ball sized hail reported in Circle Pines and Silver Lake MN as well as River Falls and Hudson WI; there was at least 1 report of baseball-sized hail stones in the southern part of Minnesota
  • Heavy rains in the south metro, including Lakeville, Burnsville, and Apple Valley
  • High winds guesting up to 85 mph in some parts of the state
  • At least one building was blown over in Farmington
  • Downed trees and snapped power poles in various parts the southern part of Minnesota

We wanted to remind our readers that severe weather can result in damage to the exterior of your home, especially to your siding and roofing.  Storm damage is usually covered by homeowner’s insurance, but it’s crucial to get your claim in right away and document the damage.

We suggest that if you live in any of the areas mentioned above (or nearby communities) that you give the exterior of your home a good visual inspection today. Look for things like chips or dents in your siding, loose shingles or bare spots on the roof, etc. Also check to see if you have excessive amounts of roofing granules piled up near the bottom of your downspouts. That’s often a sign of roofing damage. Take pictures of any damaged areas.

Getting your insurance company involved quickly is important. If you suspect you have some exterior damage from the storm, give us a call. We can work with your insurance adjuster to get your claim going and make sure you get coverage for the needed repairs.

We are a licensed Minnesota home remodeling contractor specializing in exteriors, and we serve the greater Twin Cities metro, including nearby western Wisconsin communities. We’re located in Savage – right in the heart of an area that was hit hard. Our hearts go out to our neighbors in Lakeville who have been affected by the flash floods.  We’re here to help you recover if the outside of your home was damaged.

Storm damage may have occurred in Minnesota zip codes including 55381, 55024, 55044, 55068, 55337, 55124, and 55068. Wisconsin zip codes include 54016 and 54022. Other areas may have been hit as well.
